AI-Driven Real-Time Digital Microscopy for Early Oral Cancer Detection

Oral cancer and precancerous conditions are on the rise and, unfortunately, often diagnosed at a rather late stage due to shortcomings in conventional diagnostic techniques. Biopsy is effective but invasive, time-consuming, and requires expert interpretation. The current study investigates the contribution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in improving Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy (CLE)-a non-invasive, real-time imaging technique. By integrating AI, CLE can automatically classify tissue abnormalities, reducing diagnostic errors, accelerating results, and making early detection more accessible. This could be the game-changer in oral health diagnostics, as it offers a faster, more precise, and widely applicable solution.
