POSTDOC/PERMANENT POSITIONS IN MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY AT THE BULGARIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

Newly formed working group from the Department of Biochemical Pharmacology and Drug Design at the Institute of Molecular Biology, “Rumen Tsanev” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) – Sofia is seeking to appoint Postdoctoral fellows with possibility for a permanent contract for research work in the promising and filled with new challenges area of “Design and development of multitargeting biologically active compound for the prevention and treatment of multifactorial diseases“. A creative postdoctoral researcher with computational expertise is sought to work in Nikolay Tzvetkov’s group (https://imb.bas.bg/en/struktura/biochemical-pharmacology-and-drug-design~15) within the newly formed subunit focused on development and implementation of AI- and ML-based approaches and techniques in drug design and discovery (incl. molecular docking, virtual screening, molecular dynamics simulations, etc.). The Tzvetkov group have broad interests, including early drug design, synthetic chemistry and chemistry of natural products, pharmacology, nanobiotechnology, and entrepreneurship. Researchers will have the chance to develop and implement their computational skills in order to design and evolutionary investigate small molecule- and peptide-based drugs, using the latest AI or ML tools along with cell biology and synthetic chemistry subunits within the department. According to the development of the projects there will be the chance to learn apply other computational methods/approaches of interest including bioinformatics and cheminformatics using a large number of chemical libraries (1038) for chemical space exploration and diverse combined in silico techniques.

You have a PhD in biochemistry, computational biology, bio(chem)informatics or a related area of molecular biosciences. You will be skilled at presenting your data, verbally and in writing. You should be committed to collaborative and interdisciplinary research and be able to work both independently and as a member of our research team. Substantial experience with molecular biology techniques and bio(chem)informatics is essential.

Candidates will be strongly supported during their integration process and will have the opportunity to obtain a permanent contract with all social guaranties and privileges ensuring a substantial quality of live according to the local and EU requirements. Candidates having a permanent EU residence or work permission, independently of their gender and origin, are particularly welcome.

We look forward to receiving your CV and a short motivation letter to the following email address:
