In order to carry out research into SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, academic and scientific institutions can be given permission to use data from the Austrian epidemiological reporting system (Österreichisches Epidemiologisches Meldesystem, EMS), which is why the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (Bundesministerium für Soziales, Gesundheit, Pflege und Konsumentenschutz, BMSGPK) has commissioned this data platform. It should help the national and international research community to improve evidence for and increase our understanding of SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19.
